Immaculate “Dolly” Carotenuto 83 years old, died April 23, 2019 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center in Watchung. Visitation will be Thursday April 25, 2019 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM and Friday, April 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Scarpa-Las Rosas FH, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, North Plainfield. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
Immaculate was born in Newark and raised in North Plainfield for 57 years, then resided in South Plainfield for the last 17 years. She was a graduate of St. Mary Academy (1955) and Seton Hall University (1972), and thereafter worked as an auditor for US Customs for 30 years. Immaculate was a member of St. Joseph’s Altar Rosary Society, North Plainfield, Children of Mary Society, St. Joseph’s Church, Mt. St. Mary’s Alumnae, and UNICO National the largest Italian American Service organization in America.
She was an avid cook, especially of Italian cuisine and traditional Neapolitan dishes. A die-hard Yankees fan and proud Italian-American.
Ms. Carotenuto is predeceased by her parents Joseph J. Carotenuto in 1987 and Madeline “Helen” Carotenuto in 2011; brother Frank Carotenuto in 2014; and niece Elizabeth M. Dubas in 1985. She is survived by her sister Bettina “Tina” Dubas of North Plainfield and several loving nieces and nephews.
