Nicholas Richard DelVecchio Sr. passed away on Saturday 7/21/18 at the age of 75.
Nick was born on 7/7/1943 in Plainfield to the late Louis and Josephine DelVecchio. He grew up in North Plainfield and graduated from Watchung High School. After moving to South Plainfield, where he remained a resident for over 30 years, he enjoyed coaching both football and wrestling. His favorite pastime was trips to Atlantic City and Rutgers wrestling.
Nick was an employee of General Motors for 35 years as a millwright and a Union Representative before retiring and relocating to Forked River where he enjoyed boating and fishing.
He recently moved back to South Plainfield to spend more time with his family and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (nee Laia), sons Nicholas Jr. and wife Darcy, Scott and wife Cheryl, sister Gloria Caswell and his adored grandchildren; Tyler, Caitlyn, Scott, Dominick, Zachary and Jacob.
Visitation will take place on Thursday July 26 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Scarpa-Las Rosas FH, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield. Funeral Mass on Friday 10:00 am St. Joseph RC Church, North Plainfield, corner of Jackson and Watchung Avenue. Burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
