Alice V. Logie, 94, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026. Born on December 22,1931, in Ithaca, New York, Alice lived a long and meaningful life devoted to family, community, and education.
Alice and her husband, Mason R. Logie made their home in Plainfield, New Jersey, until he predeceased her in 2013. While raising their family she became an active member in the local community. Organizations that Alice participated in include a 60 year membership and official in the League of Women Voters, editor of the second edition of “This is Plainfield”, troop leader for Girl Scouts of USA as a role model and advocate for desegregation, and a member of the First Unitarian Society of Plainfield, a church which she participated in gifting to the community which now stands as the Plainfield Performing Arts Center.
She was highly educated, earning a bachelor's degree at William-Smith College in Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Education from Kean College. She worked for many years as a Special Education Teacher at Bayberry School in Watchung, New Jersey. Her compassion, patience, and dedication to her students left a lasting impact on many families and children throughout her career.
In their leisure time Alice and Mason enjoyed the theatre in New York City, gardening, and reading as she was a long time member of her local book club. They often traveled with their family, returning to Ithaca, New York for family vacations on the shores of Cayuga Lake to a lakeside cottage owned by her parents Kenneth and Beth Vann.
She valued learning and kindness above all else and will be remembered for her ambition, intelligence, gentle guidance, and devotion to those she loved. She took pride in her English heritage, genealogical research and knowledge of her family, tracing back to passengers of the Mayflower. She cherished the many friendships and relationships she built over the years.
Alice was the devoted mother of Mason Randall Logie, Jr. and his partner, Seja Lee; Catherine Briant and her husband, Robert; Christopher Logie and his wife, Elisabet. She was the loving grandmother of Beth Briant, and Robert Briant, Edward Logie, Evelyn Logie, and Amanda Logie.
