Helen Rodriguez entered into eternal rest on July 16, 2026, at the age of 82.
Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday, July 19th from 2-7pm in Scarpa Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place North Plainfield, NJ 07060.
Born on September 26, 1943, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Helen carried with her the warmth, resilience, determination, and strong family values that defined her throughout her life. She later made New Jersey her home, where she became not only a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but also a beloved leader and pillar of her community.
For 45 wonderful years, Helen shared a loving and devoted marriage with her beloved husband, Alvaro Rodriguez, building a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Together they created a home filled with love and compassion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvaro, and by her beloved son, Carlos, whom she carried in her heart always.
A dedicated and accomplished accountant and tax preparer, Helen proudly owned and operated her own accounting business for many years. She earned the respect of countless clients through her professionalism, integrity, and tireless work ethic. She approached every challenge with determination and was known as a true go-getter who never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
Helen's impact extended far beyond her profession. She was the founder of Sentir Criollo (Puerto Rican Colombian & South American) in Plainfield, New Jersey, an organization created to celebrate and uplift the Puerto Rican community and preserve its rich culture and traditions. Through her leadership, generosity, and unwavering dedication, she became a pillar of her community. She was deeply respected for her grace, warm demeanor, and genuine love for helping her people—her pueblo. Whether someone needed guidance, encouragement, or support, Helen was always among the first to answer the call.
To her family, Helen was more than a mother—she was a mother to all. Her home, her heart, and her wisdom were always open to anyone in need of love, comfort, or advice. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.
Helen leaves behind her loving son, Frank Cuevas, who was a constant source of pride and joy. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Andrea M. Cuevas, Kasandra Cuevas, Marc A. Cuevas, Ryan L. Rodriguez, Jaysen L. Rodriguez, and Alexandria Rodriguez. Her greatest blessings continued through her adored great-grandchildren: Luna E. Guzman, Rhea M. Riggs, Leilah J. Riggs, Damien J. Cuevas, and Aryes Rodriguez, each of whom brought immeasurable happiness to her life.
Helen will be remembered for her strength, compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to both her family and her community. Her life was one of purpose, service, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, leadership, resilience, and selflessness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Though she will be profoundly missed, the love she shared, the community she helped build, and the countless lives she touched will ensure that her memory lives on for generations to come.
May she rest in eternal peace.
