Ida V. Riccardo

Ida V. Riccardo, 88, of North Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born to the late Pasquale Schirripa and Mariana DiMartino, Ida was raised with strong family values that guided her throughout her life. Ida is predeceased by her husband Bernard Riccardo, Sr. (2006). She was a devoted and loving mother to her cherished children, Bernard Riccardo, Jr. (Lucie) and Patricia Johnstone (Barry), whose life she enriched with unwavering love, guidance, and support. Ida is predeceased by her daughter Linda Sloan (2024). She is the loving grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Bernie III, Amy, Blane Jr., Julie, Christine and Matthew. Cherished great grandmother of 10 great grandchildren.

Ida was a dear sister of Joseph, Rocco, Alfred, Marie and Eleanor, her close bond with her family was a source of great pride and joy. She will be remembered as the heart of her family—steadfast, caring, and deeply devoted to those she loved. Ida is predeceased by her long life best friend (sister) Josephine Tiemeyer.

Before retiring, Ida dedicated many years of service as a Front End Manager for Pathmark Supermarkets in Gillette, New Jersey, where she was respected for her leadership, work ethic, and commitment. She was a proud member of Local 1262, valuing both her profession and the relationships she built along the way.

Above all else, Ida found her greatest happiness in her home and kitchen. She was famous for hosting Sunday dinner, lovingly preparing a pot of gravy simmering with meatballs—a tradition that brought family together and created countless cherished memories. Her cooking was an expression of her love, and her table was always a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness.

Ida’s gentle spirit, strength, and devotion to family will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the traditions she passed down with love.
