John D. Chillemi

John D. Chillemi, of South Plainfield and most recently of Flemington, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025. He was the devoted father of Sharon, Heather, and John, and the beloved grandfather of Mikayla.

Born and raised with strong family values, Mr. Chillemi shared a lifelong bond with his siblings — Frank, Nicholas, and Paula — and is now reunited in eternal rest with his brother, Michael.

Mr. Chillemi dedicated his career to public service as a public safety officer, a vocation he carried out with integrity, courage, and compassion until his retirement. His commitment to the well-being of others was a reflection of his generous spirit and unwavering sense of duty.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Chillemi found great joy in music. A talented drummer, he cherished moments spent playing and listening to his favorite songs, which brought rhythm, peace, and warmth to his life and to those around him.

He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and steadfast love for his family. His legacy of integrity and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Scarpa Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield, New Jersey. 

Funeral service will commence at 12pm in the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to UDance, an organization dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer and one that holds special meaning for John and his family. His granddaughter, Mikayla serves on the UDance Executive Board and continues this important work in his honor.
