Ponciano E. Hernandez San Jose

Ponciano Everardo Hernandez San Jose, 68, of Dunellen, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on July 25, 2026.

Born on June 15, 1958, in Uspantán, Quiché, Guatemala, Ponciano was the beloved son of Benedicto Hernandez and Teresa San Jose. He carried with him the values of hard work, humility, and dedication throughout his life.

Ponciano spent much of his career as a skilled car mechanic, earning the respect of those who knew him for his strong work ethic, dependable nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His knowledge, craftsmanship, and quiet determination left a lasting impression on family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A resident of Dunellen, New Jersey, Ponciano remained deeply connected to his Guatemalan roots and took great pride in his heritage. He was a man of simple pleasures who cherished the love of his family above all else.

He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse. He is survived by his loving sister, Hilda Hernandez San Jose, along with extended family members and dear friends in both the United States and Guatemala, who will forever treasure his memory.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 25th from 4-7pm in Scarpa Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place North Plainfield, NJ 07060. 

Following the services, Ponciano will be repatriated to his homeland of Guatemala, where he will be laid to rest at Cementerio Aldea El Chato in Guatemala City, surrounded by the land and people he always held close to his heart.

Though he is no longer with us, Ponciano's kindness, perseverance, and the love he shared with those around him will remain a lasting legacy. May he rest in eternal peace.
