Ann Yacka

 North Plainfield - Ann Louise Yacka, 96, passed away on May 26, 2023 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ. Mrs. Yacka was born and raised in North Plainfield and graduated from North Plainfield High School. 

Ann worked as an executive secretary for National Starch and Chemical, which later became Unilever, for 19 years until she retired in 1989. She was also a communicant of St. Joseph Church in North Plainfield and served on the Altar Rosary Society for over 50 years. Ann was active in Girl Scouts, was an avid swimmer, and loved to play Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit in her later years. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony P. Yacka, Sr., brothers John, Alexander, and Anthony Monzione, and sisters, Catherine Parella and Teresa Ianniello. Surviving are a daughter, Ann Yacka Marsteller of Bluffton, SC,  son, Anthony P. Yacka, Jr., and wife Claudia of Clinton.  Also surviving are sister-in-law, Mary Ann Mignella of Montgomery Township, 13 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. 

Visitation will be at the Scarpa-Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield on Friday June 2 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, followed by a 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield. Burial will  follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
