Anthony Frank Olivieri, 95, died Saturday May 1, 2021 at home with his family at his side. Anthony was born in North Plainfield where he lived 40 years before moving to Belvidere in 1996. He retired for the North Plainfield Police Department as Lieutenant of the Detective Unit. Anthony was a US Coast Guard veteran of World War II, Former President of The North Plainfield PBA #85, President of the North Plainfield Italian-American Club, and North Plainfield Flying Eagles Athletic Club where he played softball and basketball. He was an avid golfer and worked as a part-time ranger at Apple Mountain Country Club Golf Course. He was pre-deceased by his sister Rena Liotta. Surviving his wife of 70 years, Mary "Thompson" Olivieri, two-daughters, Patricia Ann and husband Gus Theofilos of South Plainfield, and Nancy Olivieri of Belvidere. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Christina and Stacy and three great grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday May 5 at 10:30 AM at the Scarpa-Las Rosas Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place in North Plainfield. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visiting hours are Tuesday May 4, 3-6 PM.
